Quiet Time

With Summer fast approaching everyone is running to the gym, exercising more than usual and trying to eat healthier……just to be ready for those beautiful blue skies, easy wind, hot summer days: when we can wear our swimming costume with pride and confidence. But why don’t we all get the results we so desperately want and expect after all our good work and 50 000 crunches?

Mainly because getting fit and healthy does not just involve good nutrition and exercise. We must also be aware of our sleeping patterns and stress levels. By the way, nowadays nearly every adult (some kids too) have developed some kind of bad sleep patterns. These include restless nights, wakeful sleep, not enough hours etc. Our stress levels are much higher as well due to the modern lifestyle. I have previously written an article about tips for a healthier sleep and now it is the time to write about “Quiet Time”.

Many Health Practitioners believe in the importance of Quiet Time to our overall Health and Well Being in order to decrease stress and cortisol levels.

So What Is Quiet Time and Why Is It So Important?

Quiet Time is time for YOU. Time for you to relax, to do some activity that relaxes and unwinds your body and brain. It can be things such as playing an instrument, arts and crafts, meditation, lying on a foam roller, Tai Chi and the list goes on and on.

Quiet Time brings your heart rate down and increases your energy. During Quiet Time your brain and thoughts should be worry and stress free. It is the ability of focused thinking.  When you find your Quiet Time “exercise” (I call it exercise because you get better with practice, you feel good and it is addictive), you will probably feel a sense of peace and joy.  Quiet Time is that time of the day when your are NOT multi tasking, rushing, or doing any of those activities that drain your energy away. Quiet Time will restore your energy so your body will be better able to handle that heavy gym session and busy day without burning out…
